COMPANY HISTORY

Grimes Industrial Products Group began in 1959 as a distributor of 3M Abrasives and maintenance products. Known initially as Grimes Abrasives, "the sandpaper people," we now have more than four decades' experience of providing the full range of abrasives, sanding and finishing tools, maintenance, repair and overhaul needs, specialized industrial supplies and related products for the woodworking, wood product manufacturing, metal fabricating, aerospace, automotive, automotive aftermarket, plastics, and marine industries.

Samuel Burt Grimes was a founder of Canada Sandpapers. His son Warren Grimes created and guided Grimes Abrasives from 1959 to 1966. Warren's son Don Grimes led the company through a 24-year period of increasing success to 1990, when his long-time partner Brian Myers became President and the steward of the Grimes tradition of technical ingenuity, applications expertise, product knowledge, and service.

Grimes customers enjoy the ultimate benefits of that tradition. Our success has enabled us to develop sophisticated customer service and supply-chain management systems, to build strong alliances with manufacturers of superior industrial products, and to continue our search for the innovative tools, materials and supplies which improve performance and enhance productivity.

While Grimes remains the largest distributor of 3M Canada's renowned products in our markets, over the years we have diversified, rationalized, and expanded our lines to include a comprehensive variety of industrial products. Reflecting that continued growth and our commitment to innovation, in 1998 the company became Grimes Industrial Product Group.

Grimes Industrial has everything needed for manufacturing process and supply across a wide variety of industrial applications. We provide reliable first-choice access to an extensive selection of new and proven products, in-depth applications expertise, supply-chain management programs, specialized business solutions and nationwide service. Our customers range from the very largest corporations, to the smallest production shops and specialized retailers. And while Grimes is now an ISO-registered provider of "total supply solutions," we haven't forgotten our roots as "the sandpaper people," and the Grimes tradition of service to Canadian industry.
